25-Point Pre-Launch Audit Checklist for Website & Project Success
INTRODUCTION
A beautiful website is useless if it’s broken. Before you send the “Live” link to your client, run through this 25-point checklist. It’s the difference between a “Junior Designer” and a “Master Web Professional.”
1. VISUAL & CONTENT (THE LOOK)
✅ Spelling & Grammar: Check all headings and buttons for typos.
✅ Image Quality: Ensure no images are blurry or pixelated.
✅ Placeholder Text: Search for any “Lorem Ipsum” text left behind.
✅ Favicon: Is the small browser tab icon updated from the default?
✅ Consistent Branding: Do colors and fonts match the brand guide on every page?
2. FUNCTIONALITY (THE WORK)
✅ Broken Links: Click every button and menu link to ensure they work.
✅ Form Testing: Send a test entry through every contact/lead form.
✅ Social Icons: Do the Facebook/Instagram icons link to the correct profiles?
✅ Navigation: Does the logo always link back to the Home page?
✅ 404 Page: Does your custom “Page Not Found” work?
3. RESPONSIVE DESIGN (THE FEEL)
✅ Mobile View: Check every page on a physical phone.
✅ Tablet View: Ensure elements don’t overlap on iPad/Tablet screens.
✅ Browser Check: Open the site in Chrome, Safari, and Edge.
✅ Clickability: Are buttons large enough to be tapped with a thumb on mobile?
4. TECHNICAL & SEO (THE BRAINS)
✅ Page Titles: Does every page have a unique, descriptive Title Tag?
✅ Meta Descriptions: Are the snippets that appear on Google written correctly?
✅ Image Alt Text: Are images labeled for accessibility and SEO?
✅ SSL Certificate: Is the “padlock” icon visible (HTTPS)?
✅ Site Speed: Did you run a Google PageSpeed Insights test?
5. FINAL HANDOVER (THE LAUNCH)
✅ Backups: Did you take a full backup of the final site?
✅ Legal: Are the Privacy Policy and Terms of Use pages live?
✅ User Accounts: Delete any “Test” user accounts or temporary logins.
✅ Search Engine Visibility: Ensure the “Discourage search engines” box is UNCHECKED.
✅ Client Access: Is the client’s login ready for handover?
CONCLUSION:
Precision is the hallmark of a Master Designer. Skipping one of these steps can ruin a launch, checking all of them ensures a happy client and a referral-worthy project. Check twice, launch once.
